Cell phone use & disconnection!
“Cell phones keep us closer to those far away from us and yet further away from those right next to us.”
📱I can tell you without fail this comes up in every session with my couples. The fact is that cell phone use is a HUGE source of disconnection in all relationships! It’s SO important to be aware of how often screens are stealing our precious time with our loved ones.
A few ideas to help…
1) If bedtime phone surfing is your jam then intentionally give yourselves 10 minutes or so to look at them (if needed) and then decide together to put them away and talk.
2) Hold each other accountable and kindly ask the other when a good time to talk would be, if one of you is hoping to connect and the phone is in the way of doing so.
3) Create “No phone zones” in your house - whether that’s at the dinner table, a certain timeframe of an evening or during car rides.
These little changes help us to capture the moments of connection when they arise versus letting cell phones be a culprit in taking our relationships into the dark abyss! 🖤
